Kate qualified as a solicitor in 1996 and has specialised in heavyweight criminal defence work, including murder and manslaughter, sexual offences and serious fraud. She is experienced at miscarriage of justice and fresh evidence appeals.
Kate’s recent fraud-related work includes:
- Defending a senior employee involved in money laundering and fraud where a significant breach of trust was alleged.
- A multi-million pound Conspiracy to Defraud and consequent proceedings under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.
Kate is experienced in handling highly complex cases involving issues of public interest immunity, witness anonymity and third party disclosure. She has a particular interest in the impact of stress and psychiatric issues on alleged offending and is highly experienced in instructing experts and digesting and analysing complex and technical reports.
Kate has defended in cases brought by Customs & Excise and Health and Safety prosecutions and has acted in an advisory role for a major company regarding health and safety legislation and the implications of The Corporate Manslaughter and Homicide Act 2007.
Kate studied at Sussex and Middlesex Guildhall universities. She has been a solicitor since 1996.
